THANAWAT NUMCHAROEN
By creating a simulated cave wall through overlapping layers of paint in a personal painting technique, Thanawat accidentally felt connected to the surface traces on the walls of Space Tars Unlimited. These walls had been painted over numerous times, until the layers piled up like layers of soil in a building that used to be a stone carving factory. They showed signs of time and people coming and going over the years, revealing a landscape that unintentionally contained a story of its own. In this exhibition, the artist tries to create a dialogue with the space through paintings inspired by the traces on the walls of the exhibition space.

 

จากการสร้างผนังถ้ำจำลองด้วยการซ้อนตัวของชั้นสีในเทคนิคจิตรกรรมส่วนตัว ทำให้ธนวัฒน์เกิดความรู้สึกเชื่อมโยงกับร่องรอยพื้นผิวบนผนังของ space tars unlimited โดยบังเอิญ ผนังที่ถูกทาทับซ้อนซ้ำไปซ้ำมาผ่านกาลเวลา จนชั้นของผนังทับถมกันเหมือนเป็นชั้นดิน ในอาคารที่เคยเป็นโรงงานหิน แสดงร่องรอยของเวลาและผู้คนที่เข้ามาและจากไปในตึกเก่าอายุร่วมร้อยปี เผยให้เห็นทัศนียภาพที่บรรจุเอาเรื่องราวไว้ในตัวมันเองอย่างไม่ได้ตั้งใจ ในนิทรรศการนี้ ศิลปินจึงพยายามจะสร้างบทสนทนากับพื้นที่ ผ่านผลงานจิตรกรรมที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากร่องรอยบนผนังของพื้นที่จัดแสดง
